The Energy Transition and Sustainability Practice (ET&S)
Our Energy Transition and Sustainability practice is dedicated to tracing the path to a net zero carbon economy and accelerating the energy transition. The team assists corporate clients on all aspects of net zero from strategic framing and pathway design to execution. Our clients range from renewable investors and developers to grid scale storage developers and large energy users like data centres. Our projects are primarily in the UK, with occasional opportunities around the EU.
Associate
Energy Transition, Net Zero and Sustainability practice
London
Work closely with Partners in a high impact role focused on helping clients deliver net zero and understand how sustainability is reshaping the business landscape.
Our fast growing team is looking for senior consultants / managers to lead work on sustainability topics ranging from renewable energy market fundamentals to net zero and wider sustainability strategy. You will work closely with the Senior Managers, Partners and will be responsible for developing client strategies, business cases and impact driving plans as well as supervising the work of junior team members.
About the Associate role
Given the fast growth and exposure to the senior team, Senior Consultants and Managers will play a key role in growing the business. They will get the opportunity to work with C-Level clients on high impact projects. They will also contribute to Ampersand’s thought leadership and visibility on sustainability.
This opportunity would suit candidates with 3+ years consulting experience and knowledge of the energy transition and/or net zero as well as a good strategic understanding of sustainability.
Specific responsibilities will include:

Advising clients on sustainability strategy, business cases and execution
-
Supervising the work and development of junior team members
-
Supporting all aspects of the client relationship from project framing to delivery
-
Contributing to the firm’s thought leadership, developing new ideas and research supporting service innovation

Participating in business development efforts, from client presentations to proposal developments and pitches
You will be based in our London office, with the option to work from home part of the week.

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for an ex-consultant with 3+ years experience, and an understanding of the energy value chain. Specifically, we’re looking for:

Good understanding of strategic sustainability questions and knowledge of either the energy value chain, technologies, and strategic shifts triggered by the energy transition, and/or net zero and carbon management.

Experience in client facing advisory and project management roles
-
A team player with entrepreneurial spirit, commercial mindset and self drive
-
Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
-
Demonstrated aptitude for analytical and conceptual problem solving, and comfort with quantitative analysis

A high impact role helping our clients accelerate the energy transition
The role
Our team is looking for a full-time analysts and consultants to support our net zero and sustainability work. The consultant will work closely with the team leaders to provide strategic insight to our clients, whether analysing market trends or business performance, or developing business cases.
Specific responsibilities will include:

Work with clients on energy fundamentals and macro-trends as the global economy moves toward decarbonisation
-
Producing and delivering strong analytical foundations to net zero and energy initiatives
-
Contributing to the firm’s thought leadership, developing new ideas and research supporting service innovation
-
Participating in business development efforts, from developing and conducting client presentations to proposal developments and pitches
-
Supporting analysts in their development
Required qualifications:
-
Understanding of the energy market fundamentals, energy infrastructure, energy value chain, technologies, and strategic shifts triggered by the energy transition
-
Understanding of carbon drivers and carbon reduction approaches
-
Understanding of wider environmental sustainability questions and practices
-
A team player with entrepreneurial spirit, commercial mindset, and self-drive
-
Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
-
Demonstrated aptitude for analytical and conceptual problem solving, and comfort with quantitative analysis
-
Prior experience as a management consultant or roles with strategic exposure to energy and carbon a plus
